With all the features you expect from MSR, the freestanding Elixir 3 tent offers campers and backpackers an extremely liveable backpacking tent at a great value. The tent design provides plenty of headroom and space for three full-size adults and their mats, two large doors for easy entry, and new larger vestibules with 35% more storage space.

Balancing breathable mesh fabric with solid canopy fabric, the 3-season Elixir 3 tent provides ventilation, warmth and privacy, while the included footprint offers multiple setup options, including a freestanding Fast & Light pitch with rain fly.

Editor’s Comments.
On our office scales the MSR Elixir 2 with everything including the free MSR footprint (255g), a few labels and tags, weighed in at 3045 grams. Split that between three people and you have an all singing and dancing backpacking tent with footprint at only one kilo per person.
In the same way that cutting edge technology filters down from formula one racing to the family saloon car, improvements in tent design and material technologies filter down from yesterday’s premium £500 plus tents to today’s mid-market range. Great value from a quality brand.

In addition, we have had great feedback on the Elixir’s robustness and wind resistance due to its crossover pole design.
